Start & Stop off by default, by coding

On group vehicles, Start & Stop switches itself back on at every start. Coding lets you either memorise your last choice, or leave it off by default. You keep the button: nothing is removed, only the behaviour at start-up changes.

Two methods depending on the vehicle

On recent models, the central electronics accept a 'remember last state' adaptation: the car restarts in the state you left it. On older ones, the battery voltage threshold below which the system will not stop the engine is raised, which amounts to leaving it inactive while keeping the button.

The technician picks the method suited to your control unit, and the original value is saved to allow a rollback.

What does not change

No component is removed, no safety function is touched. Start & Stop can still be enabled with one press of the button, as before. This job concerns neither emission systems nor the odometer, which we never modify.

What you need

  • A Windows laptop with TeamViewer or AnyDesk
  • A VNCI 6154A or VAS 6154A interface

On recent models protected by SFD (Golf 8, Octavia 4, Leon 4, A3 8Y, Formentor…), the activation goes through an authenticated unlock with the manufacturer. Our technicians perform it during the session; the quote reflects it.

Understanding SFD

Frequently asked questions

Does it affect the roadworthiness test?
No. Start & Stop is not an inspected device, and the system remains present and functional. Only its state at start-up changes.
Is it possible on a Golf 8 or an Octavia 4?
Yes, but those models are protected by SFD: the coding requires an authenticated unlock, which our technicians perform during the session. The price may reflect it.

Check feasibility on your vehicle

Enter your VIN: we read the exact version of your control units, and your request arrives pre-filled with this feature.

A VIN never contains the letters I, O or Q.
