Terms of use and terms of sale

Last updated : 01 January 2026

1. Purpose

These terms govern the use of the RemotECU platform and the supply of the remote automotive services ordered through it.

Placing an order implies unreserved acceptance of these terms.

2. Role of the platform

RemotECU acts as an intermediary. It qualifies requests, selects a compatible independent technician, collects the price and pays the technician's fee once the work has been approved.

The technical work is carried out by the technician, an independent professional, under their own professional responsibility and insurance.

The platform is responsible for the proper organisation of the service: qualifying requests, verifying technicians, securing payments and handling disputes.

3. Ordering process

The customer submits a request describing their vehicle and their need. Submitting a request is free and carries no obligation.

The platform assesses feasibility and issues a quote stating the firm price, the nature of the intervention and the technical requirements to be met.

The order is formed when the customer expressly accepts the quote and pays the price.

4. Prices and payment

Prices are expressed in euros, inclusive of all taxes. The price stated in the quote is firm and final: no surcharge may be applied during the intervention without the customer's prior written agreement.

Payment is collected by the platform and held until the work is approved. The technician's fee is then released, less the platform commission.

The platform commission is included in the displayed price; it is never charged to the customer as an extra.

5. Technical requirements on the customer's side

The customer must have a Windows computer connected to the internet, immediately next to the vehicle, a compatible diagnostic interface, remote-control software and, for any programming operation, a battery charger maintaining a stable voltage.

Failure to meet these requirements may prevent the work from being carried out. In that case, a contribution towards the time actually spent may be retained; the customer is informed before the session begins.

6. Performance and approval

The intervention is carried out remotely, in the presence of the customer or their representative, using manufacturer software.

At the end of the intervention, the technician provides a written report together with screenshots evidencing the result obtained.

The customer has a set period in which to approve the work. Failing a reasoned objection within that period, the work is deemed approved and payment is released.

7. Right of withdrawal

Consumers are in principle entitled to a fourteen-day withdrawal period.

Where the customer expressly requests performance of the service before that period expires, they acknowledge that the right of withdrawal lapses once the service has been fully performed, in accordance with Article L. 221-28 of the French Consumer Code. This express request is collected when the quote is approved.

This clause must be reviewed by a lawyer before going live (TO BE COMPLETED).

8. Guarantees and limitations

If the intervention cannot be completed for a technical reason outside the customer's control, the customer is fully refunded.

Any electronic intervention on a vehicle carries a degree of risk, including when carried out at a dealership. The platform and the technician apply the usual precautions: prior qualification, a requirement for stable power, exclusive use of manufacturer software and backing up coding before any change.

The platform cannot be held liable for the consequences of incorrect or incomplete information supplied by the customer, nor for a pre-existing vehicle defect.

9. Refused interventions and supporting documents

Requests to alter an odometer, disable an emissions control device, or bypass a safety or immobiliser system without proof of ownership are systematically refused, as is any operation contrary to applicable regulations.

Immobiliser work and key learning are subject to the production of proof of vehicle ownership.

Where the work concerns a part supplied by the customer, the platform reserves the right to require the purchase invoice for that part before carrying out any work. This check is intended to rule out parts of unlawful origin. Failing production of that document within a reasonable time, the request is cancelled and fully refunded.

This requirement is not a formality: access to the manufacturer platforms on which the entire service depends is conditional on compliance with these rules.

10. Disputes

In the event of disagreement over the result of an intervention, the customer refers the matter to the platform, which holds the funds and arbitrates on the evidence, based on the report, screenshots and correspondence.

In accordance with the French Consumer Code, consumers may refer the matter free of charge to a consumer mediator with a view to an amicable resolution.

Mediator details: TO BE COMPLETED.

11. Changes to these terms

The platform may amend these terms. The version applicable to an order is the one in force on the date the order is accepted.
