Digital speed display activation by coding

The analogue cluster of most group vehicles can display the speed in figures in the centre screen, between the dials. The option is hidden from the factory on many trims. Coding the cluster makes it appear in the trip computer menu.

What it looks like

After coding, a new 'Digital speed' view is added to the screens you scroll through from the steering wheel. On colour-screen clusters the readout is large and legible; on monochrome screens it is present but more discreet. On Virtual Cockpit and Digital Cockpit, digital speed is standard and the request then concerns additional display layouts.

What you need

  • A Windows laptop with TeamViewer or AnyDesk
  • A VNCI 6154A or VAS 6154A interface

On recent models protected by SFD (Golf 8, Octavia 4, Leon 4, A3 8Y, Formentor…), the activation goes through an authenticated unlock with the manufacturer. Our technicians perform it during the session; the quote reflects it.

Understanding SFD

Frequently asked questions

Is it available on every cluster?
On almost every cluster with a centre screen, from the facelifted PQ35 generations and across the whole MQB platform. The oldest clusters with a simple mileage display do not allow it.
